'DanSer' 2026 Program Concludes Successfully: Art and Movement as Tools for Social Transformation in Tijuana
Led by Tijuana Innovadora and Porticus, the project brought together Lux Boreal dancers and educators, along with guest artists.
Under the direction of Francisco Orozco, the program reached young people and adults in correctional facilities, underserved schools, shelters, and elder care settings.
TIJUANA, B.C. — With a moving reflection on its social and human impact, the latest edition of DanSer has officially come to a close. The sociocultural program was created to promote social reintegration, physical expression, and personal development in vulnerable communities across the region.
Directed by Francisco Orozco, DanSer took shape through a joint effort by Tijuana Innovadora and the international foundation Porticus, organizations committed to community well-being and to using the arts as a vehicle for social change.
A key part of the initiative’s development and success was its strategic collaboration with contemporary dance company Lux Boreal. The company’s educators contributed their talent and sensitivity to create and lead multidisciplinary workshops tailored to the needs of each setting.
“Dance and movement offer a universal language of freedom, empathy, and reflection. Through DanSer, we aim not only to teach an art form, but also to provide life skills that can help help strengthen community bonds" said Ángel Arámbula, director of Lux Boreal.
Activities took place in several settings, including correctional facilities, where participants were encouraged to express themselves and reconnect with their communities through art. The program also reached schools in highly vulnerable areas, offering children and young people creative opportunities and safe environments for personal growth.
As this phase comes to a close, DanSer reaffirms its partner organizations’ commitment to advancing projects grounded in human connection—projects that can help transform lives, support identity and self-discovery, and build bridges toward peace through art.
Lux Boreal’s artistic activities are supported by the Sistema de Apoyos a la Creación y Proyectos Culturales (SACPC).
