The Lux Boreal co-director collaborated with Foco al Aire Producciones on LOStheULTRAMAR, presented during the opening of the 4th Pacific International Theatre Festival.

TIJUANA, BAJA CALIFORNIA | OCTOBER 2026 — Choreographer and dancer Ángel Arámbula, co-director of Lux Boreal and a longtime member of the company, traveled to Vladivostok, Russia, to collaborate with Foco al Aire Producciones on LOStheULTRAMAR. The work was part of the 4th Pacific International Theatre Festival, held September 18 through October 11, 2026.

Mexico had a prominent place in the festival’s opening program. The official schedule featured Foco al Aire, a Mexican company, with outdoor performances on September 18, 19, and 20 at Tsesarevich Embankment. The festival brought international performing arts to Vladivostok audiences, and the company met them in an open, urban setting.

Directed by Marcela Sánchez Mota and Octavio Zeivy Romero, LOStheULTRAMAR moves along the boundary between dance, theater, and performance. Its characters travel through public space and engage directly with passersby; movement, physical dramaturgy, and audience participation shape the experience. For Arámbula, joining the process offered a chance to expand his artistic research through an exchange of creative languages and practices between two Mexican companies.

“Walking in procession with Foco al Aire allowed me to explore new ways of connecting, beyond traditional dance and theater.”  — Ángel Arámbula

The collaboration began taking shape in late 2025 and continues this year. For Lux Boreal, Arámbula’s participation has created an opportunity for professional exchange and mutual learning, while contributing to the international visibility of Mexican performing arts. The company intends to sustain its work with Foco al Aire and other organizations, supporting creative processes that strengthen dance, theater, and the space between them.

The collaboration is set to continue in Sonora this November, with activities planned in Nogales as part of the 33rd Festival Un Desierto para la Danza. During this next phase, Arámbula is also scheduled to lead a workshop in his Piso Articular Training Method for students and faculty at the University of Sonora, in collaboration with the Interacción Cultural y Social (PICS) program.
